this one has me a little scared

Sometimes it isn't obvious when an egg is causing problems. I even recently had a duck who was laying down frequently and took her to the vet for a full work up and they told me she was in pain from becoming reproductive for the year... But she didn't lay an egg for 2 months! They were right because as soon as she did she started walking normally. *Shrug*

Anyway, I'm not saying you shouldn't be concerned. Can you take her to the vet? I know you love them very much.
Poor girl!
did she need any treatment, or was it simply a matter of waiting? I've been wondering if perhaps she's about to lay soon, and the pain/discomfort has caused a loss in appetite- but I'm not sure. It's very late here, but if she's not rested and herself again by morning I will be seeing about getting her an appointment. My hope is that she will have developed an appetite/passed an egg by then

Yes, whatever color you prefer your not putting it inside just around the outside.
Always good to let them soak if it could be a problem.
Hopefully tomorrow she'll be her old self again.
The power form doesn't have dose?
it's one I found online, it's meant for people but it was all I could find and I figured it was better than nothing if worst came to worst- I think it's safe for them but I wouldn't want to give her too much of it

How much for a human?
1-3 teaspoons
She's more herself this morning! Definitely hasn't worsened, and had a fair amount of breakfast- she went for it with her usual enthusiasm for food!
I'm going to give her some egg, and see how she does throughout the morning/afternoon- I have a feeling this is something to do with her being about to start laying, could that be it do you think?

Oh good, I'm glad to hear this update! I hope she continues to get better.

I think the mystery is solved! This morning I took an egg out of their pen as usual, and thanked Dougie, cooked it up and gave it to them-- Then I went about the day as normal. Well, while I was moving things around their pen, I noticed another egg, hidden in the corner!
So I think that must explain why she went off her food, and why she's herself again! At least I dont have to stress about there being an egg stuck or anything like that! I *think* the crisis has passed, but I'm keeping a close eye on her regardless. She's eaten super well all afternoon, and will get another egg for dinner soon!

They gave my sweetheart some pain medication, but all her eggs were still just follicles and they said there wasn't much to be done. The meds helped some, maybe 40-60% but she still had difficulties on a long foraging walk. Eventually she just got better when the eggs arrived.

I'm so happy your sweetheart is feeling better today!
