This pen, yes or no?

7.5 wouldn't be the gauge of the mesh here. Most likely it is the same cheap hardware cloth used in all the TSC pre-fabs. It is decent for rodents but will not stand up to a determined dog/raccoon. But I agree with gladahmae that you can put some modifications in and have something decent pretty quickly.

We actually own a pre-fab thatst currently attached to the coop for a small run. The dogs that killed our hen came back Sunday but the hens went into the coop and they left. But yes I would definitely want to reinforce it if we go that direction. Thanks!

Dogs that come by my place looking for a chicken dinner rarely leave...

Yeah we called animal control on the dogs when they attacked our hen, it was a big messy ordeal. They found the owners and I now have her number, so I call every time they come back and will file charges if they damage my property or go after them again. But the other night I saw 2 beagles running around and we caught a lab/pit mix that belonged to a different neighbor 2 weeks after the attack. They are everywhere!

This is what we do too. 4 years ago neighbor a mile down the road had 2 of his dogs run off and they killed a bunch of my broilers and all of my blrw chicks I had hatched from a breeder. We caught the one and someone else turned the other in with a face full of porcupine quills. Guy ended up having to pay some really big fines over it all (wasn't the first time it had happened) and we haven't seen those dongs since. I figure it's not the dog's fault for being attracted to a big flappy noise maker.....we let animal control pick the dogs up and the owners get to bail their pup out of doggy jail.

Ugh that's horrible I'm so sorry! Yeah we now have aco on speed dial. I don't blame the dogs, my own digs would attack them given the chance but it's the owners letting them out! She claims her ederly father with dementia is letting them out when she's at work and the aco officer took pity and believed her when she said they were building a fence. Yeah that was 2 months ago... They we're at our house Sunday sniffing the coop.
