This SUX!!

Sex-links are sexed by appearance (with red/gold sex-links the females are red or gold, males are white); with breeds that are vent sexed it must be done on the first day; later doesn't work reliably.

When store use open bins for brooders it is not uncommon for chicks to end up in entirely different bins than where they are supposed to be. It's not hte store's fault that someone's child moved the chicks around or that someone plopped a chick that got out back into the wrong bin. (Of course it is their fault that people can get into the bins on their own.)

Exactly! When my first roo appeared (he had a pink comb at 2 weeks), I thought that was probably what happened. But as more and more kept appearing, I knew someone had screwed up. Now that 6/6 are roos and they ALL have red and brown feathers growing in, I know it was not a case of someone's child moving one or two chicks into the wrong bin...
