Here is some great news, another chain food company has agreed to phase out the use of eggs from battery-cages. Red Robin's will exclusively use eggs from facilities that do not use battery-cages!!!

According to Red Robin's new plan, the Greenwood Village, Colorado-based chain will exclusively use cage-free eggs in all U.S. company-owned stores by the end of 2010. Red Robin's phase-in will begin next month, and will be one-third complete by the end of 2009.

Red Robin is also in the process of working with pork suppliers to phase in gestation crate-free pork at company-owned locations.

Yahoo for Red Robin!!

This should go without saying, but the best thing you can do to reduce cruelty to animals on factory-farms is to become a vegetarian. It's an easy way to make sure that not a single animal is abused for your food, it's good for your health, and it is better for the environment. If you care about animals, this should be a no-brainer. If your not though thats kool too! To each their own but it is a viable option that should at least be considered!! But overall this is about the awsome choice made by red robin!

Yes but gypsy it is a start...change must start somewhere.

It is the restaurant's attempt to lead others away from animal cruelty. I applaud them for their effort. I just ate there today!!! Delish!

Definitely a great start! It means people are becoming more aware!

I believe Red Robin also uses exclusively grass-fed beef, don't they? Eric Schlosser wrote about it in Fast Food Nation. Next time I'm in Colorado I would love to go to one.

Oh I am not putting down the store by any means, sadly we dont have them here.

I dont have a problem with the fact they are going cage free, what
I take issue with is the fact that cage free does not mean abuse free. instead of a single cage, they are now stuck on a floor with 1000's of other birds and walking in muck, there is no corp who is going out there hourly to power wash the floor, dirty eggs are still going to be an issue, as will crushing deaths, disease etc.

all they are doing is removing a small cage and putting them in a large cage, fancy words for the same principle. plus a price increase.
I am not sure I can covey what I mean in words. I will try later if the headache subsudes. I have the headache from hockystick heaven.
