Those with shot guns who are allowed to discharge them.. question

Does anyone have or heard of a .28 gauge? My hubby won this at a DU banqet and it's the best little shotgun we've ever had!! Just curious if I'm the only one here with one???

I've never owned one, they are less common than some of the other gauges. You can find plenty of them at the skeet range where shooters fire 12, 20, 28, and .410 in a full match, usually with guns that have interchangeable barrels or bore inserts that allow you to fire multiple gauges from the same barrel.

The standard shotgun gauges are 10, 12, 16, 20, 28 and .410, with a .410 being equal to around 67 gauge. Most people are very familiar with 12, 20, and .410 shotguns with rest of the gauges being less common.

Mac, I was just wondering if this gun was known only in our area??? And I know about the bore but this gun is an origianal baretta .28 gauge...I love the gun, just wanted to make sure everyone knew that I wasn't drinking southern's hooch when I posted....oh, and by the way Southern,....do you ship??!!! I have a 20 gauge Mossberg for pest control and shooting clays. DH is so sweet he bought it for me as a Christmas gift. We do keep it locked up with DH may other guns, we have our own and other young kids over here all the time. I us to not like guns but it is nice to have the protection if I ever needed it.

No, the 28 gauge has been around for over a hundred years. All of the shotgun manufacturers make guns in that gauge. It's just not that popular of a gauge. Most would consider it to be an "expert's gun" for wing shooting since it is the smallest gauge that people actually use for bird hunting, the .410 is smaller but most people wouldn't consider a .410 to be suitable for bird hunting.

It's good to see so many folks own guns! Makes me a little more confident that the second amendment will last a while longer.
They can have my guns when they pry them from my cold dead hands!

My husband uses a .22. All of his guns are locked up with the ammo elsewhere. I held the .22 for the 1st time this past weekend. Our daughter knew where the key ( she could not get to it)was but my DH moved it for her safety.

My DB taught me how to shoot. He has a pistol, and I got him a 44 mag for his birthday. He thinks he's an 'ole dirty Harry now!

We use a shotgun to shoot at predators though.

Yes, I owned 1 many years ago. I didn't know they still made that ga. yet today. It is between a 20 ga and a 410. I won many bets with that gun. Most people have never heard of it.
