I ordered a bantam special a few weeks ago. There is one tough little fellow that is dwarfed by the other bantams in the brooder and thigh high on the rir that are the same age in the brooder. Fed them tonight and couldn't find the chick. I searched through the pine shavings looking for it and no chick. I was beginning to think something had pulled it through the one inch mesh on the door. I had a paper towel roll in the brooder some of the chicks have been roosting on and having log rolling competitions. I picked it up and it was full of shavings. I started dumping it out and somewhere in the middle it was clogged. I don't know how a three or four week old chick got into a paper towel tube or how long he was in there but it drank alot of water when I got him out. I hope it' ok. It was active and didn't seem weak.
