I only had to do it once per round of chicks with mine. I just need to remind the peeps they need to come out, to run around, eat, & drink a couple times at most.I’ve never had any problems with brooder plates. I prefer them and use them exclusively now. It does require that you stuff the chicks under a few times before they get the hang of it.![]()
So confusing. Everyone does things differently. It's going to be my first time raising chicks and I don't want to mess up. They are being shipped by cackle so better do what they say just in case something goes wrong.I use brooder plates, no issues. Chicks are easier to wean off of them since they practically do it themselves between 6-7 weeks.
I ordered from Cackle recently, chicks are arriving in June. First Cackle order. So confusing. Everyone does things differently. It's going to be my first time raising chicks and I don't want to mess up. They are being shipped by cackle so better do what they say just in case something goes wrong.
Mine will be here in May. I've read everything possible in hopes to care for them the best i can. Good luck to you too.I ordered from Cackle recently, chicks are arriving in June. First Cackle order.
Heat lamps are a pain sometimes to get at the right height so, the chicks aren't too hot, I also I don't have any way of raising the heat lamp every couple weeks to wean the chicks off it.
Thanks. I understand the feeling.Mine will be here in May. I've read everything possible in hopes to care for them the best i can. Good luck to you too.
I would. I had a hunch my mail order chicks needed to be warmer but that was mainly because of the extra day in transit. I didn't put them to 104, just about 99 with warm sugar water also, but this video makes all the sense in the world from someone who's gotten chicks days old from the feed store and direct from the mail.So confusing.
