Thoughts: fire pit close to chicken run

My mother wants to put her Fire Pit just behind the chicken house/run. I'm concerned about the chickens and the smoke. It's not like they'll be enveloped in smoke all day, as she'll probably have a fire in the morning for about an hour or 2. Will this bother the chickens at all? I do not want them getting sick or having any chance of getting sick from this!!

I'm not 100% sure, but to be honest I wouldn't think it will do them any good, an hour a day is a lot considering the size of a chicken's lungs. So if it can be avoided, I wouldn't chance it.

I wouldn't do it especially if she burns plastics or styrofoam. The fumes and smoke would be very dangerous. Plus there is the possibility that a hot ember could catch the coop on fire.

Ask yourself this.....would you put the fire pit close to the house?
