Thoughts on clipping wing feathers?

My hen kept flying over the 4ft fence.

What kind of thoughts?
As how well does it work, or something else?
I only clip if nothing else will work to keep them safe where they are meant to be, and it seems to work pretty well.

Clipping wings might not be enough to keep them from going over a 4' fence. Athletic ones can wing-walk up the side of chainlink when flapping their nubs

I don't clip wings on a routine basis, but I do clip a wing on any escapees I catch outside the fence twice. POL pullets seem to be the most prone to wander.
