Hello
I've only been breeding these beautiful Blue Laced Red Wyandotte Chickens for two years now. Slowly I'm seeing some improvement in type at least. Still much more work ahead of me, but they really are a joy to work with... Wondering if anyone has any tips or thoughts on my birds so far.

Here are some of my adult breeding stock. I bought adult stock from three different breeders. I use the Clan Mating System to keep a closed flock.

Here are a few of my youngsters I hatched spring 2016

Any advice would be great
Thanks

The roo in the second pic looks great. They have quite a bit of black on them, did you add solid colored birds?
AND, where did you get them? I want some of these.

The Blue Laced Red comes in three colors: Blue, Splash, and black. So the birds with quite a bit of black on them are the black color variety. The individual that appear to have more white or a very light blue are actually the splash color variety. If you breed black and splash you get all blue chicks.
No I have never used solid colored birds in my breeding program, only Blue Laced Red. I got most of my original stock from IL.

Yes, I know about the blue genetics and stuff, but they do appear to have ALOT of solid, "thick" lacing. Such as in pic 1 and 4.
They don't have orange in their hackles *yay*

I keep seing "show quality" birds at shows with horribly light red between lacing, and orange/yellow hackles. I am a total snob for dark mahogany and orange hackles.
Look at Jerry Foley's birds. Here's a link to his website: http://www.foleyswaterfowl.com/ His birds are AWESOME!

Lol yes I know Jerry Foley has fantastic birds. He really sets the bar when it come to Blue Laced Red Wyandotte chickens. The breeders I bought from claim to have birds directly from him, but I never did call Jerry to prove this true or not. Either way I'm nowhere near Jerry Foley quality. I have bad feather shafting and pinched tail in a lot of my youngsters. But it's a joy to raise these ... I just have to be patient
