thoughts on these breeds for children?

You should get what you & you family like. Have your family take a vote.

ask your family blue & green eggs, or Brown or Dark Brown eggs, Most likly they will choose the EE for colourd eggs. It's definatly somthing to talk about to friends. You have a chicken that lays blue & green eggs.

I have 3 EE bantam's and they are great just remember at the tractor or farm store the EE's are usually sold as Americuana's or another similar name even if they are just EE's you get many different colors with the EE"s I love my EE's I have them 2 barred rocks also nice, 2 BO they are sweet to red star sex links pretty nice and calm 2 austrolops (sp) nice and big hearty birds 2 black star sex link and 1 Blue Americauna (she is flighty but I do not think she was handled as a chick) i got her when she was older. I think your list is a great idea having a few of each and then going from there. I love all my chickens and can't wait to add some more. good luck with your flock and remember they are additive.

We got some chicks today! Sorry for the poor quality cell phone photo. Supposedly 6 Speckled Sussex & 2 Wellsummer. They were mixed together in the box with a variety of other special order chicks to the feed store. They all look pretty similar, but some of their bellies seem more yellow. Hoping to get some Easter Eggers in the next week or 2.

Awww, cute! You will LOVE those Speckled Sussex. I love mine, they are soooo sweet and docile. I can't wait to see how mine are when they grow up.
