Thoughts on using a black light in coop?

Old thread but wanted to add to the original question. Just because some black lights are used for reptiles, does that mean it is automatically good for chicks? Do reptiles and chicks "see" the same wavelengths? Might the chicks see the light even though reptiles do not?

I have heard that there is a BIG difference between the black incandescent and black florescent bulbs. Apparently, the incandescent bulbs are the ones used for reptiles to stay warm at night. Supposedly the florescent lights are used to light posters, etc and will burn a chicks eyes... Can someone help me clarify the above questions and assumptions?

Ouch! is that black incandescent and black florescent bulbs? Both? Is there a black light that is not harmful to chicks/chickens?
