I have a 11 year old chicken, she is currently at vets with sour crop, they have emptied it but it has filled up again, suggesting a blockage.
I have given the go ahead for an X-ray, if there is something there, which is sinister I would not want her operated on because thing she has been poked around enough!
My thoughts are have X-ray, see outcome-then bring her home for 24hrs before having her euthanised, will break my heart but have to think of her at the end of the day.
she won't be getting any food through will she? as things stand, so thinking 24hrs to say goodbye
anyone been through this?
many thanks

At her age, there probably is not a good chance that she will recover from sour crop. I have never had any survive that with treatment, and they were much younger. I would probably spend some time with her at the vets and let them euthanise her there. But if you bring her home to put her down, I would give her water and something mushy like egg toe at, but only if she wants it. Sorry that you are dealing with this, but she has been lucky to have lived such a long life with you.
