Thousand Dollar Egg

OH wow...I sure hope in 2 years it's not up to 18! I just started buying feed about 5 months ago so I missed the cheap stuff then. So I'm thinking 13 is still cheap. LOL What is yours at now for a 50# bag? I get Purina brand.

Hey Kentucky, congrats! There must be something in the air here in or around Paducah; I got my first $1000 egg this morning too! Small, buff colored, about the size of a guinea egg, but definitely chicken! We must be nearly neighbors!

Wow... I want a $1000 egg. I've gotten 4 eggs this week (she just started sunday) and I've checked everyone.... only full of yolk! Guess the yolks on me?!

Miss P, don't go aging yourself.

Our feed is about $15 for 50# I charge $3.75 a doz for eggs and I'm making enough to feed the chickens and the pigs. I build coops to pay for my own coops, so I think I'm actually in the black this year.

If you saw my birthday thread you'll know how old I am. I am glad to be 42.

Wouldn't go back to stupid 20 something for love or money.

Hangin Wit My Peeps:

The wife says the best guess is that her hens are approximately 5 months old.

For what it is worth, after getting the first egg yesterday I was on "egg watch" all day and nothing, so the suspect hen is still at large.

Maybe tomorrow,

Kentucky
