Hello everyone! About 2 weeks ago I went to my coop and found one broody hen. The next day I went to check on her and found that there was another broody hen! And then about 1 week later there was another broody hen! All of these hens are frizzles which are said to be very broody breeds. I haven’t put any fertile eggs under them yet because they haven’t hatched any eggs before. They all have managed to stay on the fake eggs for this long now. Would it be too late to put fertile eggs under them? And how often do chickens go broody?
Thank you!

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Its hard to say how often a bird goes broody. Its all hormone driven and some breeds are extremely prone to broodiness. Others not so much. If you have a hen that is a proven broody, stuffing eggs under her isnt a bad idea. Young broodies that have never hatched a brood may not stick it out or may abandon the entire thing. Its always advised to have an incubator on hand for these broodies that abandon ship too early.

Good luck with your flock and welcome to ours! :)
