3 of my 24 hens have been extremely broody for the past 3 weeks or so (one buff orpington and two white cochins). I keep taking their eggs, becuase I don't want any babies going into winter, but they still just sit there on empty nests, screeching at me whenever I walk by. How long will they be like this? Should I chase them off the nests or just leave them alone?

Maybe in the spring, I'll let them hatch some out, but with the rooster being a Polish, I just can't imagine what the chicks would look like

Yes, chase them off the nests, lock them out, hang them in cages (hang the cages), break them or they will just keep on sitting. I had a hen sit for 6 weeks, lose two lbs untill she finally got up and left with one chick.
