Three freeloading hens and an impotent rooser, waddya do?

I have quite a few dragging butt, too. I'm kinda glad I got a production red now. She's a freaky egg machine. She started at 19 weeks, and is currently on a mad 2 week + stretch of laying without a break.
The differences in cockerels is really entertaining. Carmine has his preferred ladies, some laying some not. Due to size issues, however, I have collected only one fertile egg. Louis likes the older girls (especially the Delawares), but he's too polite to keep a grip on them. As soon as they start squealing, he lets go. The weird thing is, he's French. I have some very young EEs who will mount anything they can catch including each other.

As if you don't know what happened to me Monday? No mailed chicks and for sure no mailed hens.

Fine, I'll DRIVE to Virginia, but I won't be bringing any black hens. I will, however, be returning with ALL of your dark-blue hens AND your red rooster.

I have 42 eggs set from that Red devil. Wish me luck and you might get some red eggs this spring.
