Three legged chick

Actually, the vent is displaced a little to the right. You might be able to see it better here:

I am also disappointed in McMurray in that the shipping/hatch date was March 5 when they say in their catalog that they hatch on Saturdays; the 5th was Friday. So that means these little guys were in the box for 3 days, and were 3 days old and not day old chicks, which obviously explains their wing feather development on arrival. It would be nice to have had that info before ordering, I would have gotten the bantys locally. Caveat emptor. Just sayin.

Last spring there was a 3 legged chick in the "meaties" bin at TSC

It looked a LOT like your chick.

I always wondered what happened to it, I should have bought it.

What you can try is what they do for kids born with a extra digit on their hand or foot....tie a string, fishing line, thread etc around it..let the blood supply stop and that extra foot will die and fall off. .....a slightly more normal looking chick poof!

No! No! Don't amputate, I want it! Send the little guy to ME! I am fascinated by side-show freaks. I want to raise him as a pet. Are you NPIP? I hope? I Sooooo want him.

Actually I was thinking that as it gets older, (assuming it does), the appendage will kind of shrink up on the backside and not drag on the ground anymore...being a meatie, this shouldn't be long. We will see.

That looks like inbreeding to me. Never seen anything like that. My first year I got one and it had a broken beak and I nursed it and it made it for 3 weeks then one morning it got tired of living and went to chicken heaven, it was so sweet too. I hope I don't get another broke beak one this time , it was so sad its little tongue showed all the time but it ate and drunk, but not very well.

Yes, at 8-weeks, she can take it to the butcher and he will cut it right off for her

Seriously, I doubt it will effect the meat any as long as it can eat and poop. You won't get and extra drumstick because it doesn't look like it has function of the extra leg, therefore the muscle isn't really developing. You may have a little waste from that being cut away at butcher is all.

As for a name, Doomed.
