Hello BYC Breeders!
We are thinking about changing our breeding program and have been doing some research on different plans.
Of all of them we are thinking that a three line spiral will work best for our farm.
Does anyone currently use this style of breeding? If so do you have any thoughts on it?
Here is an article on it... thank you Pathfinders Farm for writing it... https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=344077
We breed lack and lavender silkies and our plan is to take the next five to six seasons and breed just the blacks together in a three line spiral. After we have strengthened this line then incorporate the lavenders into the blacks.
I am also curious to hear from breeders that use a strict breeding program other than this on on how yours works and the pros and cons of it.
How do YOU keep track of your breeding plans?
We have mapped out a chart... it is rather long... but I would be interested in some feedback from others who may be interested in wading through it... good luck! Im not sure of the best way to post a WORD document to the thread.
Thank You.
