How do duck oil themselves and is it possible that they might have learnt how to do it already?

they are too young. they would get oil from their mom. don't let them get wet till they feather up.

They can get wet. They can start out with warm water up to tops of their legs leave them only about 5 min in the water then take them out and put them back under their heat source they will start the preening process and that will stimulate the oil gland . Gradually in crease the depth until they are swimming and diving you’ll love it. And they will too. Always supervise them though.

thank you for the information. I have been told that they should not get wet unless they are with their mom.

Yes they can just nice warm water and only up to 5 min to start straight back under the heat after ward and always with supervision. It really gets them started on preening and getting the oil gland working. Plus they will love it and it’s so much enjoyment to watch them.
