My Gypsy is hatching her eggs. She has 3 out so far. One is in the pipping stage and is chirping. Yesterday, one pipped and got no further. Gypsy got off her nest a couple of times - afternoon and I was able to see this egg with the pip with the little beak. The little fella didn't make it. I cracked the egg open to see and the membrane seemed to be very strong.
I can think of several possible reasons if this had been in an incubator. But this was under a hen. Any ideas why? Was it just a weak chick? Not going to make it anyway?
It is so fun to watch Gypsy and these cute little yellow chicks. I will be posting pics as soon as I can get them on a disk.
