Oh, yeah I forgot.

A few days ago I was giving out watermelon, & Pea came running out of the coop so fast, that she almost fell on her face 🤣 . Speed is what I want, but balance needs work apparently.
Thays where your crosses come in.

Very late in the season but I'm letting this kelso hen brood a clutch. Found her on the nest this morning so that's good. She has about a dozen under her. Tonight I'll move her in the dark as to lessen the disturbance and move her to the above ground stalls for the duration so the cock doesn't bother her

Will be crossing her soon, after I take care of a couple chick orders friends made.

Cute, birds. Wishing you luck on your hatch.

Next years F1 pairings:

Malay X Heritage Plymouth Barred Rock

EE X Marans/American Game cross

F2, breedings will follow with this too.

I may have to remove the Malays, they're starting to bully the Silkie, & EE hen. Or hatch from the Malays first. I don't know, I'll figure it out.

Decided I'll remove the Malays for now, & just breed the EE, & Silkie. I'll go back to the Malays afterwards, then start the project.

I'll update when I start breeding for the project. Hopefully the next group of hens I put together get along, never had such issues before with group separation.

If I have nothing else to do today, besides breeding, egg collecting, & feeding, I'll get some pictures of Pea.

She escaped the coop sometime yesterday, she appeared to have enjoyed her time Free Ranging when we weren't there.

Out of the eggs I'm hatching for our friends is 3 Silkies(Setting 6 Eggs, keeping 3 chicks as grow outs), they get 3 chicks.
Chicks I'm not keeping back are the EEs, & Random mixed breeds.

Malays, placing 5 eggs, keeping 2 back for growing outs, & extra females, they get 3.

Also, this girl's eggs are starting fatten/Widen, & not be so skinny, so I maybe able to use her for breeding now.
