Why not ameraucanas? They would ensure that their offspring would have a blue egg gene, at least for F1.The new breed I want to create will lay brown to pastel green. One reason I'm using Easter Egger for the blue egg gene.
Gonna use both an EE rooster that looks part Gamefowl, & an EE hen to keep the blue egg gene strong.
Lacking wattles and possessing a dewlap means they have the pea comb gene, but it does NOT say whether they have the rose comb gene as well. So from your description, I cannot tell whether they've got walnut comb (pea + rose) or just pea comb.
Yes, so you know he is PP, but he could be PP rr; or PP Rr; or PP RR.The rooster that you say has a walnut, lacks wattles, & has a Dulap instead which is a trait that is connected with Pea combs.
Have you looked at the link I posted?Could still turn out to be either a pea or a walnut.
Walnuts have genetics for both pea and rose, so I don’t see why that confirms it as something else.
Yes, most Show quality birds do.Doesn't this bird have a beard?
They're harder to get a hold of, & prefer to use what I already have. Why not ameraucanas? They would ensure that their offspring would have a blue egg gene, at least for F1.
Yes, I know he has PP.Quoting myself because I left out the most important word the first time. That "NOT" was missing, and of course that changes the entire meaning.
Yes, so you know he is PP, but he could be PP rr; or PP Rr; or PP RR.
All three of those would have no wattles, and could have the dewlap.
PP Rr and PP RR would be walnut combs (with dewlap but no wattles.)
Yes, you know he has PP. I was agreeing with you there.Yes, I know he has PP.
I can test that.Yes, you know he has PP. I was agreeing with you there.
My point was that you do not know whether he has RR or Rr or rr. Having dewlap and no wattles tells you nothing about whether he has a walnut comb (pea + rose) or a plain pea comb (no rose).
Did you breed him before? Lack of wattles could be just because of the beard as well. He is quite handsome.Yes, most Show quality birds do.
