Can't imagine why they would say that? We ate our first eggs... looked and tasted great!

Seems to be the general consensus, why waste perfectly good eggs?

Our first eggs from some breeds sure have been tiny. That reminds me, we did waste one perfectly good egg. It was small and I wanted to keep it shell intact so I could show people. I blew the egg out of that one for that purpose.

My S.O. was a little worried about eating our first eggs, so without him knowing I scrambled them with store bought eggs and he never even knew. I don't think he even realized when I stopped buying eggs and fed him only our fresh eggs!

My best friend got her frost egg this week. I slept at her house on wednesday, and by then they had 3 cute little brown ones. I blew the first out for them, and had the other two for breakfast

I threw my first ones.......into a bowl, mixed in some salt and pepper, sprinkled on cheese mushrooms and some crumbled bacon and made an omelet!

Seriously, first eggs are just a bit smaller. They taste great---even better because they ARE your first! I have new hens starting to lay every week. I don't even know for sure which ones are first eggs anymore. No difference.

Aaawww, I'd feel terrible throwing out their 1st egg they worked so hard to lay. They're so proud of them

Our Easter Egger's very 1st egg took her an hour to lay and it was real soft-shelled. She didn't look too proud of that one. It looked to me like she couldn't wait to get away from that thing that caused her to scream and holler so much lol

Actually you are supposed to gather your flock and make them sit in a nice little circle. Make them pay attention while you eat it raw, smiling devilishly, and pointing to each and every one of them all the while making sure they understand if they do not live up to egg production standards they will go the way of the egg...

Thats about as good advise as the IDIOT extension agent.

Just my opinion, and the practice we follow. We have been raising chickens in the US for 300 years now.
