Tibeten coturnix lays 2 eggs a day!

That's neat! :)

I don't know if it's common,I'm new to quail and just got our first Coturnix quail this week but our hens are only laying once a day for us. :)

i heard about chickens doing this but never quail. i always wondered if the female quail or chicken lays 2 eggs in one day will both eggs be fertile if a rooster has been mating them?

Most of my coturnix girls lay once a day but this particular hen lays 2 a day atleast once or twice a week and I know its her because she is alone with a roo in a pen and he is definately a roo with all the calling he does and all the foam bits left around the pen. They are the only two I have of this breed. I have not tested their fertility but I think I am going to pop those eggs in an incubator just to see! Should be interesting to find out if they are both fertile. If so I think I will keep all the babies from her!

I found one of my very first pharoah hens was laying 2x per day about twice a week this spring for maybe a month and a half. She was in a pen with only one other female and the male, so getting three eggs a day really threw me for a loop at first.

Well I Put 8 of her eggs in the incubator from a 6 day laying period. All hatched healthy so yep they are fertile. I think I will be hatching more from this girl. I need more birds who lay twice a day lol!
