Ticks?

Are you supposed to check your chickens for ticks? Or can they remove them if they have one when they preen? I have a few that do not like to be caught. Like they know I'm going to try before I ever get in there.

I've never really heard of people checking for ticks before. I think chickens eat ticks and so it isn't much of a problem for them.

Its always good to be cautious though. Do you have a lot of ticks in your area?

I don't think we have more than anywhere else. Our dogs occasionally get them.

Some years are worse than others. This year was pretty bad as far as ticks go. One of our cousins dogs got lost and when they found her she had over a hundred ticks on her!

I honestly have never seen a tick on a chicken. I'm pretty sure they eat them, as I actually haven't seen a tick on the property for years and would think bug=lunch to a chook lol.... But we have guineas too; somebody's eating them
