I think what Capvin meant was he is not subject to other peoples system of punishment but answers to Congress I believe. He would have diplomatic immunity I think.

Try reading this link. It's not about the law of Canada or any other country but international law. And quite how Amnesty International would make money from the charges escapes my simple mind.

Some of the statements made here are not only incorrect and probably made out of ignorance of the real facts. First, it is obvious that AI would not really benefit financially from supporting the prosecution of Bush. Second, our Presidents are not above the law, i.e. Nixon. They are not above the laws of the United States as they are enforced by our Justice Dept. They are not, and hopefully will never be, subject to any other country's or organizations laws. Third, AI does not spend a lot of money in its efforts to raise money. It is a well run and legitimate organization that spends about 30% in administrative and fundraising costs.

AI is a very fine organization but if it is really attempting to pursue the arrest of a US President they are just being unrealistic. Most of their efforts are enviable.

I agree that AI is unlikely the get an arrest warrant issued but that isn't because international law doesn't cover what I understand to be the alleged offences.

AI is trying to persuade a government to issue proceedings under international law, not its own law. Issuing proceeding under the laws of another country would be a nonsense unless the individual had committed a crime in that country or against one of its citizens.

I thought that it was understood it is international law and the international criminal courts that we are talking about. They have just successfully convicted a mass murderer from the Bosnian War in The Hague so the system does work.

Congressional law of the United States supersedes International law. No matter how bad the UN wants to use the military Congress has the final say.

As to Bill Gates what the article is saying is that he lied to protect a 37 million dollar investment. Now really does anyone think that he would be that worried about $37 million ? This is a man that has given away 30 billion dollars. Sometimes you need to use some common sense. Seem someone just whats to attack him for his opinion.
