Tidy cats litter can?

It helps to use the lid with a large hole cut on one side so it will still hold some nesting material in;.
The liter boxes in question have a lid where 3/4-7/8 folds open while the rest of it is mounted to the bucket. I am planing to cut the opening part of the lid

At one point I added extra nest boxes due to many many broodies all hogging the real nests.
Those were cardboard boxes from Costco. I thought it was funny that they said things like Tyson chicken nuggets, boneless skinless chicken breast, mixed salad greens etc.

The hens didn't mind at all.

I think the kitty litter buckets are too small for nests, but they are great for hauling poop to the composters house.
If you do use them, make sure they are secured well so they don't tip when the bird steps on the edge to go inside. Removing the hinged part of the lid, then might want to sand down the remaining sharpish edge.

Update: the litter boxes (that I have atleast) are you small, the chickens don’t like it, they can’t turn around in it. I might just use them for storage of feed and oyster shells.
