Time between first and next egg

Each hen has her own schedule! My RIR was the first to lay an egg (at 19 weeks), but her second egg didn't come until 9 days later. Most of my others started laying regularly, as in almost every day, right from the beginning (around 21-22 weeks).

I had two leathery eggs. one one day and than again liek 3 days later...THAN..an actual hard egg a few days later.
I was FREAKING! AND she has laid an egg every day since.
One was HUGE and had two yolks!
This so fun! I can't wait for the others to start!

It takes about 26 hours for an egg to form so a hen that lays for 5 straight days will lay a little later each day. Overall production can vary greatly from the hen that lays 300+ eggs per year to one that lays none.

Has there ever been a situation where an egg laying hen produces so little that it doesn't make sense to keep her? Age not included.
