I have some 4 week old chicks and some 6 or 7 week old chicks. I was wondering if its ok to put the 4 week old chicks out in the coop overnight yet? Some are not fully feathered on their heads. The coop is an old shed. I have some plastic tote nesting boxes with bedding that should keep them warm. I have a thermometer inside the coop and its usually around 50 degrees inside the shed during the night.
Yesterday I turned off their heat lamp for a couple hours then on for a couple hours during the day and they slept without the heat lamp on all night. All day today they have been out in the run.
Do I need to keep them indoors a few more nights without the lamp or are they Ok to just put them out now? I dont want to move them to fast and shock them. I would appriciate any advice. Thank you!
