Very new to poultry, have 7 chickens now 16 weeks old. None ready to lay yet as far as I can tell, but I'm trying to prepare. I'm wondering if there is a time of day (or night) that chickens favor for egg laying. Our chickens free-range during the day and come into their coop at night, where there is a roost and laying boxes.
They like our fruit trees so much, I'm wondering if they will want to lay their eggs under the trees there. So I thought if chickens lay any particular time of day, I could make sure they stay in the coop at that time. But if they lay at all different times, then I'll just have to pay attention and check under the fruit trees daily. Any thoughts are welcome!
