I keep mine in the run for a while after they started laying in fear of the same thing.Once they got the idea gave them a free range area,so far they make their way to the nest boxes. In most cases they lay all their eggs by noon for my girls,sometimes I might get 2 after noontime. One time i went to close them in for the night,I open the door to the coop and there is an egg at the bottom of the perch at 8:00 pm still hot from the chicken.
