I've heard cheeping for at least 36 hours. Only 3 eggs in. Only 1 cheeping. I finally opened it to see which one it was- was considering helping and humidity had dropped. It was pipped on the bottom. I panicked and rolled it over. I'm having trouble keeping the humidity up this time and I'm sure that's my trouble. Do I help it? I've never opened during lockdown in the past. How do I do it? Please help

When my Silkie hatched chicks, the evening before the day they hatched, 2 of them cracked tiny holes and were peeping ALL night until the next morning. They had made no progress whatsoever. I decided to help, and everything was ok! I'd peel off a tiny piece of shell at a time until I got a decent sized crack. Then I scratched at the egg with my finger nail, and they pushed with their legs as hard as they could when I did that. Eventually they got out and were perfectly fine. I think if you feel that you need to help them you should, just be very very careful.
