Time to call it quits?

In spite of everything my girl died this morning. Found her in a pool of watery liquid. Will do a post mortem followup to see what the problem was. Thank you to all who gave support and information.

So sorry for your loss. Many times we don’t notice sick chickens until the end is near. That has been my experience with crop disorders. Was the fluid from the crop or from her vent? You could also get a professional necropsy by your state vet, but if you do your own, please take pictures of her organs, and note if there is any yellow or amber colored fluid in her abdomen, and post pics here.

Unfortunately I stuffed the hen into a bag when I realized I had no clue as to what I was doing after I'd cut her open. After reading your request for pictures, however, I unstuffed her and clicked away. The water on the floor undoubtedly came from her crop as there was very little feces. I noticed a huge blood clot in her heart so that's what probably ultimately killed her. Attached are the autopsy photos. Feel free to diagnose.

inside of gizzard. The core was rock hard and the esophagus was packed full.

Sorry for the presentation this is my first multi picture. No 1 is opening. 3 is empty cavity. The milky substance is egg. 4 is contents of crop. There are a few duplicates but I can't figure out how to delete them.

I didn’t see what the liver looked like. Looks like a lot of bright yellow fat which can be a sign of fatty liver disease. The liver can be tan with that. Definately looks like a blocked gizzard or crop. Thanks for digging the body back out to take pics.
