i waswondering what time people feed their ducks? unfortunately i have to run around at about 5:30 am and dont think i would have time to put the feed out but i would have an automatic door opener (possibly) to let them out into their run in th AM to forage. do u think it wud b ok if i fed them right when i got home? 3pm-ish?

Mine free range and have food available all the time, they nibble a bit throughout the day but in the summer they mostly eat bugs and such. Some folks like to feed in the evening so they can encourage the ducks into their enclosure when it starts to get dark... mine tend to gravitate to the duck yard in the dusky part of the evening anyway and I have little nightlights on in the duckbarn which they head toward when it's dark.

I guess I just feel like animals should be able to eat when they're hungry... I know I do!

Mine get fed when they are let out in the morning. This morning they waited until I had fed the dogs, worked out and showered, so they were let out and fed around 7. Sometimes they are let out at 6 and fed. But they are always fed when I let them out in the morning. They free range and expect a snack around 3:30 or so if I'm home. If not, they expect it when I get home.

It doesn't take long to feed ducks. I can fill a container of food inside, go out, open their door, say good morning, watch them get down the stairs, follow them down with food, dump it in their dish, take out any eggs in their house and be back in the house in less than 2 minutes.
Refilling their water, hosing down the deck and housing out their house takes more time and means I have a shorter workout when I know I'm working ahead of time so all that can be done before I leave.
