Ok, i think i need to intervene....Opened the bator to refill water this morning, realized there was my first pip(10:30 this morning) Its day 22, Chick has made no progress since then, still alive in ther peeping away but not moving around to get out....I need advice on how to help the right way.
Please no negative comments, it has been over 12 hours and no progress, i believe its my fault this happened so im gonna try to right it.
Has anyone ever done this and how>

12 hours is a little early to help. I would just make sure the humidity is up and wait until at least the 24 hour mark to make any other decisions. If it is peeping, it is breathing.

Before I go hog wild and crazy, are any of your other eggs pipped? Has it been 24 hours since the first pip?

Let me be clear. Helping out a chick is a coin toss. Once the chick has pipped the yoke sac starts to draw in. Once completely inside the chick, it will start zipping. IF you help out too early in the hatching phase, you could have a exposed yoke sac that will lead to either culling, infections, pulling out the intestines.

SOOO if you are going to help out, make darn sure that is was a problem that you created first (opening the bator and having the chick stuck would be one reason).

Let us know.

agree wait untill 24 hours, if you help to early easy way to kill them, bleed to death

I agree with everyone else. My incubator is still running. Lockdown was Saturday night. Just checked and had a couple of pips that moved to zips. They might be out now but I am not going to worry about it for a while.

My first pip was one night at 6pm....it did not hatch until 11am the next morning....and I stayed up all night and checked it!! That was an eternity to me. But......

I FIGURE EGGS HAVE BEEN HATCHING FOR MILLIONS OF YEARS WITHOUT MY HELP!

Remember that and not all the threads you have read about people helping. Myself, I read too many about someone helping and pulling the connection out that attached the chick to the membrane where the blood supply is. A chick will bleed to death. So what if it is trailing the bottom half of the egg shell....I believe that is what helps them get loose from it.

Be patient. I understand not being able to sleep for checking on them....it is Thursday morning and I am still up....but more are hatching.

I set 41, culled a blood ring and a light bulb and today had a defective chicken we had to cull....she would have never been able to walk. (big thank you to my DSIL)

Relax. Breath. And step away from the incubator!!!

Im pretty sure it was my fault, i could tell the chick was trying to move around but couldnt...I of course being the stubborn bull headed person that i am...Opened up the egg very carefully and it was exactly as i had tought, he couldnt move his head back because it was almost completely shrink wrapped....peeled the pieces of membrane back away from his head and put him back so he could get himself out the rest of the way....Hes just in the bottom of the shell now is what i mean
He looks to be completely fine, didnt see a yok sac but i didnt take him out either...VERY VERY minimal bleeding so i think everything is fine. I will be up with him all night and will keep everyone updated.

Good luck with your chick. As someone who has not slept since Saturday night...get some sleep where you can!

This one is named Turbo!!!! Took him a whole 6 minutes to get himself out of the egg....Now thats a fighter!!
