Time to Start Planning Your Coop's Christmas Lights!

That's me, we don't have a HD, but we do have a Lowes, it and Wally World are my 2 favorite places to go, I could spend all day and a kings ransom at Lowes.

Hey folks, I just wanted to point out the tree is real. We purposely planted a real tree there for the chickens and several others along that line. Some made it and some died off, but this one is still growing tall.

Also a reminder to keep decorations out of chicken's reach. Things like string, garland and tinsel are very dangerous for them. Keep em safe and have fun.

At the other board, we do an annual coop decorating contest - maybe Rob will have one here too.

Oh how much fun is THIS gonna be!??? DH and I LOVE to decorate for the holidays. We have a 3 acre yard..and almost FILL it with lights, animation, and stills. I told DH we HAVE to decorate the coops...and he said..." Well, looks like we will need to go buy more lights!" WOOHOO!! I LOVE my DH!

DH is NOT enthusiastic about the Christmas lights...

But I found a birdseed suet wreath at WallyWorld, plus very large suet & seed blocks that could entertain the peeps for HOURS. He humored me on those.

I thought about tyings a froot by the foot bow on the large rectangles and taking a photo of the peeps 'unwrapping' their Christmas present!

Yes, I think we can include photos of Chickmas present-opening as part of this idea.

Has anybody had any luck putting a mini Santa hat on their chickens? I bet one with a chin strap would work, at least long enough for a picture. I'm going to work on that one...

Yes, I'm sure you can put a small santa hat on a chicken. We did it with hamsters, so we're sure we can do it with our rooster. That's going to be a Thanksgiving weekend project!

To get the size for the hamsters, we bought Christmas Beanie babies and cut off their hats & scarves. They were only held on by a couple of threads. Worked very well and the pics were soooo cute! Have to see if we can find them...

DH laughs that we had to have a digital camera for that photo shoot. We took over 50 pics to get the 2-3 really good ones. We even have one with both hamster & cat posing together!!

I don't do lights for the birds but they do get to see Santa going down the chimney and being pulled back out by Rudolph. I will post pics for everyone to see but just brace yourselves we go all out. I have a speedway, candy canes, Christmas Trees, inflatables, Santa w/ his reindeer flying thru the air, icicles hanging from my roof, etc.....

I think they mean Wal*Mart. I sure wish there was one, or even better, a Target store near us!
