time ??

How much time each day so you spend on your chickens ??

That is a great question.

When I was building the coop and finishing the run, I spent a huge amount of Required TIME on this project. Well in my opinion, it was a huge amount of Required TIME.

Since the Coop is completed and the Run is DONE...my Required TIME has been greatly reduced to about 15 or 20 minutes a day. By "Required TIME" I'm refering to duties such as Feeding, Watering, letting them out in the morning to Forage and locking them up at night so that they are safe. If I didn't daudle so much, I could probably reduce the Required TIME to 10 -12 minutes a day. But I like my birds.

I do have a lot of Extra Time and that is strictly because I like to spend time around the birds. This is time that I spend with the flock that is beyond what I would need to inorder to keep them healthy and happy. This is the time that is very important to me and that I cherish with the flock....The Extra TIME is My TIme; and could amount to several hours during the day if I have the time.

About twenty minutes in the morning. About forty five minutes in the evening. Another twenty minutes washing and packing eggs. That's every day of the week but for Wednesdays and Sundays. On Wednesday add an hour or thereabouts to that. On Sundays add two to two and a half hours.

All of that is for right now when I have two turkey breeder tractors, one of back-up toms, three grow-out tractors full of young chickens and turkeys, three layers tractors, one fixed henyard, and a rooster pen. Probably about forty five to fifty turkeys; a hundred to a hundred ten chickens. Been selling birds lately so haven't got a more accurate accounting.
