So how long would you say it takes for a flock to get used to a new chicken? I had a rooster and swapped him out for a pullet the same age but she is much smaller since she was a free range chicken and the other 5 have started to get used to her, I should say they tolerate her but she's certainly not included yet. How long until that happens?

Yes, one can be very hard to integrate, I'd say you're lucky there is at least tolerance...as there's often violent harassment and blood shed.

It could take weeks.

Copied from another query-

I have the same situation happen every year when I add 2 or 3 pullets.

Almost to the day, it takes 3 weeks before the young ones are allowed out.

I keep food and water in the coop and in the run.

Best if the roosts are in separate areas of the coop also.
I set up a temporary roost for just this reason, and keep it for 6 months.
By then the pecking order is well established.

It's a chicken thing...
