tin roof and lightning

Hey, I just had a thought. My chicken house is under a huge pecan tree, and has a tin roof. I was just out there with them, and a thunderstorm is just starting. I never thought about it before, but do y'all think there's much chance of them getting hit by lightning?

I don't know about the lightening, but a treeload of pecans dropping on the roof might deafen them!

Yeah, they are always getting bombed with green pecans! It's pretty funny.

I wouldn't worry so much about the coop getting hit as much as the tree. If the tree gets hit the bolt is going to come out the ground at the bottom of the tree any way and, er, ahm, you got Fried Chickens.

Actually when I was out there a little bit ago, I was getting concerned about fried mom!

Both of our porches have tin roofs. We've been renting this place for 6 years and we've had some close strikes but never a tin hit.

I suspect that all of the stock ponds around us would be more of a target but I'm not sure.

Most of the houses here have tin roofs. Wonderful sound in the rain. I love rainy nights under those roofs.

I am sure your birds will be just fine.
