Seriously im freaking out ... sick to my stomach and ready to burn my barn down and my house... My son went out thismorning to get eggs .. and his older brother went out right after to feed and water. The little one comes running back in to the house crying that he had bugs on him. and ran in to the bathroom and was in hte shower didnt even take his clothes off. I went in the bathroom didnt see anything... looked him over .. thought he was just making an excuse to not help feed. I left the house to head to my aerobics class. Stopped at the barn and asked my oldest ??? do you see anything .. He said no.. 1 HOUR of aerobics and i come straight home. my little one meets me at the door and takes me by the hand and over to the kitchen where the basket of eggs was from the barn. and there i seen what he was talking about. Almost microscopic. (Could just make outthe speck was moving. )I freaked out... grabbed everything and took it out side.. Filled my plant spray bottle with vinegar (i hate bug spray!) and headed to the porch.. spray spray spray.. Back in the house.. grab my antaseptic wipes and im going nuts.. i grabbed something lifeted and wiped and looked at my hand one was on me... scrub scrub scrub... anyway i have no idea if i got rid of them all.. I have no idea what they are... they are in my barn.. where i have 30 chickens, 4 cows and a dog. My house dog went with the kids.. i inspected her.. i couldn't see any but.. that doesnt mean anything!!!!!!!!!!...

Am i going to lose my house my barn, my sanity ... I'm sick.. throwing up upset about this.. WHAT IS IT!!!!!!

I searched online and seen something about Northern Mite... OMG i can't even think about this anymore.. I quit smoking almost 2 months ago and im ready to bolt to the store and start all over again.. Someone please help me!!!! I'm freaking out

Sounds like mites. Don't freak out! Go to the feed store, buy a bag of food grade DE, and dust the living heck out of your barn, and all your birds.

will they come in my house.. what about my dog???? my hands are raw now i have scrubbed everything and pitched all of my eggs from the past two days (that was all i had left.. ) My dad has bad eyes he can't see them he came over and thinks im crazy and need commited .. lol I'm not crazy.. they are there.

I think it either came from migrating bird or the farmer who has a chicken poo hauling company down the road perhaps he hauled it in with him... OH GOD... Seriously people... im a germ a fean and this just sent me over the edge... My husband told me to stay out of the barn. He knows i cant handle this... Could it have been something that came in their feed... i have seen things about feed bugs.. ... OHGOD!
I need anxiety drugs LOL

Wowee kazowie and geez louise - calm down! It's just a bug. And it may be absolutely nothing. Even if mites, it's easily fixable.
Get some Rescue Remedy and put a few drops in a drink and drink it, pleaseeeeeeeeeeee !

p.s. If it is mites, it's fabulous that you discovered before your birds are compromised too much. So it's good news, really

Thank you everyone... I'm sorry its just i have a OCD that i surpress till something really sets me off...

I'm going ot buy the dust now.. and DH will dust them when he gets home from work. How do i dust the birds??? keep it away from faces... we had a dead bird last week no sign of why killed her... and we had a dead barn swallow 2 weeks before that... I wonder if this is the cause... chicken showed no other problems just died... in her nesting box thanks again! i appreciate it... what ever im putting in my drink its going to be strong enough to knock me out LOL

These are wood mites! I bet they came in a bag of shavings. I have been battling these things since winter. Not to make ya freak out even more but these lil buggers don't die! I have tried poultry dust, adams flea and tick spray with IGR, DE, Complete wipe down with soapy water ect u name it I have done it. Stick your hand in one of the shaving bags and see if your hands comes out with them all over. They are attracted to warmth and especially enjoy hanging out all over the eggs and broody hens. They don't bite or suck so something like ivermectin is also useless. They are as small as a speck of pepper. The shavings I had with the mites in them were called Marth wood shavings. The pic below is one of 2 broody seramas in a nest together, look at the edge of the box, those tiny little specks are those mites. This was in my house!!!! But never traveled out of that room. I bug bombed the room once everyone was out of there and bleached the heck out of the brooders that were in there and wiped down walls,ceiling,ect.
