We are on day 5 and still alive. I have been afraid I would lose him the last two days. But every time even the day I helped him out of his egg..he proved to me that he will fight. I had to help him hatch due to shrink wrapping and humidity dropping while I was at work. It was a 40 degree morning in Texas and the temperature rised throughout that day. I tried compensating in my still air incubator that morning and wasn't home to adjust.
He has fought everyday. Rounds of electrolytes, probiotics, baby aspirin, and love has been given to him. He is just so tiny. But he gets stronger everyday. We purchased two barred rock babies to be with him. He is a mix..Barred rock rooster and either buff orpington or Rhode Island hen. He eats, poops, drinks all on his own. Sometimes I give him a syringe of meds when his crop goes down just to make sure..
He fights, flaps his wings, and his eyes are a little weak but he opens them alot and can see everything. Yesterday one of the other chicks pulled on the umbilical stump. I twisted it slowly off the rest of the way and there was a small bit of blood I put honey on it to beat an infection. Today it is dried up nd he's crying less. He stays under the warmer and comes out every hour or two. He's very vocal. I wake up constantly to check on him in case he does go i want to be with him like i was when he was born. I gave him chlorella today bc its brought me and every animal I've ever given it to back to life. Everyone in my household is rooting for him.
