Tiny Black Bugs in New Chick Feed Bag

I'm here, and it's 2024. We have such bugs in our feed and I've just been feeding it to them as the feed is pretty fresh itself. A couple of my chickens have runny poop, though, so was wondering if those bugs had anything to do with it?

I set a bowl in the feed bucket and those bugs love to hide under it. So in the morning I get to scoop a big pile of them out.

Don't feed infested food. It's probably not as fresh as you think. Bugs that feed on grains also poop in said grains. And bug poop carries a slew of undesirable microbes.
I would immediately replace with fresh feed and hope your birds gastrointestinal symptoms are alleviated.

x100%! How fresh is 'pretty fresh'? For us, fresh is within two months of it's mill date, as in fed within two months of it's mill date, and stored inside, not in an open sided shed, as I've also seen at a local feed store.
Feed infested with any insects isn't worth feeding, and the store we use watches out and doesn't sell such stuff either.
