Two weeks ago we were given a hen, about twenty weeks old, who is really not in the best shape. She came to us underweight, with a bad case of worms, and a lot of torn out feathers. She seems to be slowly improving, and she laid her first egg yesterday. The birds are being wormed, so we've been throwing out their eggs, but I opened hers up to see how everything looked inside. The shell was perfectly formed and nice and thick, and the yolk looked great, but the white was full of tiny dark specks. I looked around, and "meat spots" sort of fit, but do these spots usually show up spread throughout the whole white? I should have taken a picture, but I didn't think of it at the time. Thanks ahead of time for any ideas anyone might have about what caused this!
