Tiny duckling! Anyone else experienced one like this?

Yep, thanks for the reminder! definitely no issue there - I’ve been giving even more in addition to the normal extra that I add to the duck starter from our local co-op, because it’s still low in niacin even though it’s supposed to be meant for ducks. :) seems I get one bird in every batch that’s a little smaller, a little slower. Lol. And that one always seems to be the favorite. :p
Wonky is my favourite too :love

you guys are great ducky moms all my babies are big i don't think I have ever had wee little ones like that i have looked everywhere for magpie eggs or ducklings and can't find them where did you get your magpie eggs from so I can order some next season

Well my tiny isn’t so tiny anymore and I’m so very happy for him! He’s still behind but he’s catching up somewhat. He’s slightly larger than my 2 week old duckling so we’re on the right track. :) here he is meeting the “big boys” safely through the fence. Lol

@Flockincrazy I’m in Canada, so I got my egg (all they had to send me was 1!) from DC Heritage Poultry in Quebec. I originally ordered ducklings from Performance Poultry but they canceled their hatching season due to Covid so that didn’t happen. :( next season I’ll be ordering more silver appleyards and magpies from there though! :)

I can not find anyone in the USA to get magpie eggs or ducklings from its enough to make me nuts maybe in the spring I will have better luck hopefully

Update on my little magpie: not so tiny any more!
2.5 weeks between him and the younger runner/silver appleyard crosses behind him. He’s a real sweetheart though, definitely going to keep him regardless of the fact that I won’t be breeding from him. :)

DO NOT order from DC Heritage Poultry!! Believe the negative reviews! Unscrupulous and practicing animal cruelty based on so many sick chicken posts. For me, I ordered 24 Fertilized Jubilee Orpington eggs - ZERO fertility rate - then when I brought this to their attention, they emailed and admitted to using an old rooster with a low fertility rate. ZERO! They replaced eggs with only 16 Jubilee, 2 lavender and 6 chocolate laced Orpington eggs - 20 were unfertilized again and 3 were clearly NOT Orpingtons at all, 2 may be Legbar, 1 is unknown, they admitted putting random egg in by mistake and the other chick, who knows what it is. $12 an egg. Plus knowing they sent unfertilized eggs, they still charged me an additional $72 for shipping. Looks like they switched from a puppy mill to a chicken mill! Anyone having this experience should also report them to the Quebec Government site for ensuring animal safety and welfare. quebec.ca/en/agriculture-environment-and-natural-resources/animal-health/ensuring-animal-safety-welfare
There is an online form for reports or you can call 1-844-264-6289
