TINY egg laid by chickens!?

Just thought I’d share this. This morning went to the coop and found this tiny egg in the boxes. Couldn’t have been another bird as they were in the day before and overnight. Don’t think this is something to be concerned about though, right? I put the egg next to an Americana egg for comparison.

It's a Fairy egg. Some folks call it a Fart Egg or Rooster Egg.
I would not be too concerned unless you have a hen that is acting lethargic. Usually there is no yolk inside those type of eggs, you may find whites along with some meat or blood spots.

Nothing to worry about. A fairy egg happens from time to time particularly with Young hens just starting to lay.

This is a TINY egg.

The tiny egg in this picture didn't even reach the edges of a quarter.

Yours looks like a fairy or fart egg. Have you cracked it open to see if it had a yolk in it?
They are quite normal for new layers.

Yeah I cracked it open and it seems like a fairy egg! Very interesting as I’ve never seen one

Have only had a half dozen fart eggs here over 6 years,
they all came from older hens rather than newly laying pullets.

Fairy, fart, wind, rooster eggs are usually from a tiny piece of tissue breaking loose from the reproductive tract, or an immature ova(yolk) and the body forms an egg around it. Color can be darker than 'normal' as the pigment coating released has to cover a much smaller area so is thicker. Can happen with any age layer, but more common with new or older layers.
