Just found this thread and swooped through every page, wow. I had an extra small Serama hatch but he died at a couple weeks old. He was still less than one ounce at that time. Other than tininess, he looked okay but cheeped more than the usual chick plus he didn't feather out when he should have. Serama's feather out really early and this little guy had only a tiny amount of feathering when he died. I hope your little Pippin is still doing well. I'd love to see updated until he's feathered out. He doesn't really look Silkie to me.

This gives me hope that you shouldnt misjudge everything you doubt - in this case an undersized egg, cause now theres pippin!! I cant wait for my hatch now.....
