Tiny Run for 3 Chickens

They will have a coop also. We plan to build some boxes with grass in them the area around the boxes will have wood chips so they won't be on the pavers. We don't foresee much of a risk of anything digging under and up with the pavers there as they are extra large and we don't live near any sort of wilderness. I haven't read anywhere that said 10 feet per chicken. I have a friend here in town whose chickens have a much smaller enclosure.

That will be a very nice exercise pen while they are little but when they get to be closer to maturity (4 mos) it will be sort of small.. you'll be able to tell. They will seem cramped. If they are more pet like and you can handle them you can carry them from the porch to the pen if your not allowed to let them run on their own. Then relocate it on new ground to scratch and eat the greens they find. If the porch is the "hen house" for sleeping, eating and the pen exercise during the day you may get to the point where you can simply open the door and they will come out and do their daily work and then come back inside for egg laying, sleeping and such. That's is a great pen, really like the roof, I have been trying to decide what to build for a day pen for my Seramas which are so tiny even full grown. This would be a great style.
