Tiny the Terrorist Attack Hen! Will She Become a Suicide Flogger?

Sorry, I didn't get notified of a reply this time or would have answered sooner.

Yup, the older ones sure do, but they all do, really. None will willingly submit to Gideon. And daddy Isaac won't share, either. Poor boy has no place here. He ought to have his own flock. He'll be a great rooster for someone, but so far, no takers for him.

Kind of feel bad for the poor guy lol.

My younger girls will take pretty much any boy, but submit easier to the older ones. They make the younger ones give a little chase, but eventually give in. My older hens act like they are taking advantage without one ounce of consent and scream through the entire process

She lays her egg then runs to find Isaac before Gideon grabs her. In other words, nothing has changed around here.

I have to say that Gideon is actually calming down somewhat. I think he's beginning to realize that the humans are his friends, not like those evil chicken women. He could be fine around here except that his daddy Ike won't allow him any hens of his own and he runs at breakneck speed to knock Gideon off any hens he may be accosting at the time. I'm afraid Isaac will hurt himself chasing his son.

We have a roost bar in the top corner of the pen near the coop that several of the "privileged" hens sit on to be carried in every evening. They seriously wait on that bar and refuse to go in with everyone else. They have DH trained very well. Gideon jumped on the bar two nights ago with them and allowed himself to be picked up and taken inside, too! Tonight, same thing! We couldn't believe it. So, he's made huge strides in his calming down process, for sure.

So you mean your DH has to pick up the hens (and now Gideon) and carry them in? Wow, I thought my chickens were organised LOL But I'm glad to hear Gideon's calmed down now. Is he still after Tiny?

I need to get rid of 3 young roosters. Heide wouldn't let them near the hens and spends a lot of time chasing them around. So they are now after MIL's bantams. Not ideal, especially when one of the idiots tried to jump her 3 month old pullet. He's only about 6 times bigger than her! Shame the poor thing crawled into a pile of building rubble and I had to go pull her out again. I think she disliked that more than nearly getting raped. Those bantams are wild.

Yes, he has to pick up the two blue Rocks and some of the barred Rocks, plus Tiny, every night. Now, Gideon is sometimes in on the action. He's still after Tiny and anyone else who is silly enough to be caught alone away from Isaac.
