I went out to check on my birds, and there was a tiny egg in the middle of their area, just sitting in the dirt. I have a penny for comparison. It looks just like a mini Turkey egg. I candled it, Doesn’t appear to have a yolk, just whites. At first I thought it could be a crow egg, as they are nesting in the tree directly above my coop. But if it were a crow egg, it’d have darker spots and a yolk. My chickens have laid mini eggs like this, but I’ve never had my turkeys do it. One has been laying really well, so I don’t think she did it, and my other lady has bred multiple times but stopped showing interest yesterday. So maybe she did it? It’s her 2nd year, and it seems odd that she’d lay a tiny egg.
How common is this, and does it mean there’s something wrong with the one who laid it?
